Moving Memorial Day Tribute

My family and I took our annual visit to the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum yesterday and on the way saw this Memorial day tribute. It's set up on the way to St. Michaels MD. The gentleman that set up this display is a collector of WW II memorabilia and apparently even has an old fighter plane set up in his house... did I mention his place is huge? In fact this display is at the end of his personal run way. He came out to check on things while we were there so that gave me the opportunity to thank him personally for taking the time to do this. This year, Memorial day is especially close to our family's hearts. My oldest son made the choice to serve his country in the Army is in boot camp now. He left April 11th and will be graduating July 29th. After that, he believes he will be heading to Afghanistan. We are so proud of his decision to , if need be, lay his life down for our freedom and the freedom of others.

It really was... It was hard not to tear up. The pictures just couldn't capture how touching it was.

It made me cry all the way home, and I turned around to get my camera, and brought my eight-year old son back with me to teach him the meaning of Memorial Day. So incredibly amazing. I'm blogging about it today.
