Long Overdue Post

I have been wanting to write this post since before the primaries. It concerns the candidate Julie Brewington, aka Right Coast Girl (hopefully that's no big secret). When she abruptly shut down her blog a few months back, it was quite obvious she planned a run for something. But what? The logical choice would have been for County Council. With John Cannon going after a MD Delegate seat, it looked like the path was clear. After Tuesday, it is even more obvious she missed her chance after two Republican won At Large.

But Julie was overly ambitious and perhaps too naive. By going after the MD House she missed a golden opportunity for herself. Politics is local isn't it Julie? And everyone around here knows you, having seen you appear before the council dozens of times, and heading up the local AFP. I think you would have had a really great chance. That is until people started pulling out all the crazy comments you have made in the past on your blog. I guess that's why you deleted it? It was all backed up by others anyway.

So now she has returned to her blog where, IMO, she runs a really tight ship. The posts are very incisive and targeted to make Democrats look as terrible as possible. For the most part I think it works. Well Julie, there is always 2014. And next time, leave your blog up. Until then, see you in cyberspace!

Up next: a post on why her husband Mike, a die hard Rep, registered as a Dem the day before he announced a bid for County Council, which he was bound to lose from the start.

One should always be careful of what they post and such. Things in cyber space have a way of just hanging around and turning up when you least expect them.

Are you coming to praise, or bury, her?? Just askin'- 'cause that picture is actually kind of hot given the hysterical blindness some have suffered via Louise Smith. Banzaii....

Hey TS, Good to see you. I'm up early only to find your blog is up and running again and to my surprise, your interest is in me. Thank you, I suppose.

I'd like to take this opportunity to clarify a few things, if I may.

1. I didn't shut down my blog with the intent of running for office, as I assume you did not shut yours down with an intent for running for office. I shut it down with the hope of avoiding the internet tough guys who have stalked me and my family for months. Well, that didn't work, as my absence only seemed to provoke more stalking... and since I'm not one to be bullied or silenced, I fired it back up, within a week. It had nothing to do with my consideration for running for any office. I hope I have made that clear.

2. It's a shame that commonly held conventional wisdom is you have to be on the government payroll already to run for anything. That is a false myth, as Charles Otto, who won the seat I sought in a landslide, held no prior office. It should be noted that John Cannon, who filed 2 days before I did, did not fair much better than myself in the primary, so I would contend that he is the one who actually miscalculated, as I am very pleased with Otto's win and like to think I helped him to some degree. How much of that help was calculated, may be speculated on, but never known. I hold no regrets in my bid. The right person won and I gained a great experience and new friends. I also have a successful existing career and if in the off chance I had won, I would have had to sacrifice a great deal. I was willing to do it, knowing the price, but the outcome is really all that mattered.

3. I really wasn't interested in running for county council as I didn't care to challenge my representative, Stevie Prettyman, and Mike had already decided to run At large. It wasn't likely I would challenge him either.

4. You make it sound as if I made some "crazy" statements that I am ashamed of on my blog, and so you think that's why I deleted it. Nothing could be further than the truth and in fact my blog is in the same tone as it ever was. I'm not trying to make democrats look bad, they are doing that all on their own. I'm just happy to point it out as the party has notably shifted from working class people to union run socialists. However, I have not been shy why it comes to my views on the republican party, which in many cases have committed equally damaging acts. The truth is I don't care for either party very much however, if one wants to play the game, you have to decide on a "team". The elitists in both parties have run us down a path where we argue over it like football teams. I am a conservative, first and foremost, and I am unashamed of that or any position I have held in that regard; past, present, or future. I do have some liberal views on a few issues and I don't agree with everyone just because of some label they hold. I believe in the people of this country and I believe in the constitution as the ruling law of this land. If I have to register in a party in this state to vote in the primary, it is Republican...but the party needs help and reform, especially here in Maryland. I would challenge that the Democrat party is in dire need of reform also. If you don't believe me just revisit the 2010 midterm results overall.

5. Mike has NEVER been a die hard Republican. He has ALWAYS been an independent. Just check his records at the election board. Or better yet talk to him yourself. His family ARE die hard conservative democrats and so he made that choice because you know, not all democrats are liberals. In fact, I've met so many that are conservative here, I wonder why they are still democrats given the shift in the party. In any event, I don't know if he'll go back to Independent status of register as a dem or a rep. As for me, I'll likely remain a Republican and see what I can do to remake the party here in Maryland.

Thanks for allowing me the opportunity to check ya on the subject.

Okay, I stand corrected. I think I still might have to have a follow-up though! Cheers.

Not embarrassing just not wired into the money and together they got 2,500 votes. She got just a few shy of cannon. That is what is embarrassing.

Yeah that's true. I was surprised by Cannon. But I was more surprised Brewington didn't run for CC. Maybe she thought she couldn't beat him in that race and didn't think he'd run for House like he did. Plus Otto came out of nowhere on them.

TOGETHER they got....... That sort of says it all, don't it?
