Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) has introduced a bill that would allow all religious employers an exemption to a requirement that health care coverage include contraceptive services and abortions.
Well thank goodness. That didn't take long. Hopefully it passes, but for others who don't have the courage to take a stand, well, Barack has just unfairly forced his way upon this country.

I was under the impression that the exemption existing in the current legislation.
The way the exemption is written is that it's not much of an exemption at all. It says you are exempt only if the majority of your employees AND the majority of your clients are of the same religion. There's no way a hospital would employ only 1 religion of people or only serve 1 religion of people.
Sounds fair (in a strange way)then. If your employees or clients don't share your opinion, why should they be forced to?
Better yet, the church should stop getting federal money. Then they can do exactly as they choose.

Huge tax breaks... Religion is heavily subsidized in the US and at several levels. With that subsidy, they should have a moral obligation...
And the language is also offensive. They use the concept of "rights" in pushing a legislation that is aimed solely at denying rights to people. Asinine.

Contraception and abortion are not an illness or an injury. Why should the be covered? They are a personal elective. They are covered most places already. Maybe the person should get a different job if they are so concerned about that? Maybe they should be happy to have a jobs that comes w/ insurance period?
Because we live in a 1st world nation. Women in a 1st world nation have access to birth control. Even 98% of sexually active Catholic women have birth control.
And from a moral perspective, access to contraceptives is the #1 way to prevent abortion.
We denigrate the Taliban for their treatment of women. Should we go down that same road here?
Freedom to deny people their common rights, is not a freedom worth fighting for.
