End of the World lunacy takes it to the next level

It seems that just when you thought this end of the world nonsense couldn't get any worse, something like this happend.

Only slightly worse than those who continue to drink the Obama kool-aid he's been selling. Just sayin'. ;)

One should lead a life free of superstition.

religion and superstition are two completely different things. You had to know that comment would stir the shit LE....lol

Liberal Elite said...

They are different, but not completely different.

When one infuses their religion with rank superstition, then bad things can happen.

This video is a perfect example of that.

It's one thing to have an imaginary friend. It's quite another to kill your kids because you think he wants you to...

LE while I am a christian and I know you are an athiest, I think each of us recognizes the right of the other to have their differences of opinion on this matter and I personally agree wholeheartedly on your position that bad things happen when you blend religion and superstition. If the Lord calls my kids home, it won't be through my hands.

My answer to that is this.

When one infuses their atheism with rank superstition, then bad things can happen.

@4:31 " If the Lord calls my kids home, it won't be through my hands."

OK. Then here is a test for you.

If God reveals himself to you and convinces you of his reality, and then demand that you kill your first born to atone for your sins. If you do so, he will accept you into the kingdom of Heaven. If you do not, you are relegated to Hell and you're about to have a fatal heart attack. The Devil is in the background smirking...

Do you:

(a) comply with the will of God? His will be done.

(b) tell him that your family is not for sale, not even for the price of your eternal soul?

(c) just give him the finger.

You can guess my answer.

@argr "When one infuses their atheism with rank superstition, then bad things can happen."

Very clever. Really.

But if one does not have an imaginary friend, how is it possible to kill for him?

But more to the point, the very same critical thinking skills that guards one from faith also guards against superstition. Have you ever met a superstitious atheist? Or even one who believes in astrology?

OK OK. I believe it's a bad idea to walk under a ladder. You got me.

afterthegoldrush said...

LE, you don't get it. You are looking at being a Christian in the wrong way. It is not in the brain. It is in the conscience.

afterthegoldrush said...

I know many non-believers who are way more superstitious than me. I was way more superstitious 2 years ago when I was an agnostic. It is atgr, by the way. Or were you being very clever?

Liberal Elite said...

@atgr "It is atgr, by the way. Or were you being very clever?"

Do I play those games? The "t" and the "r" are simply next to each other on my keyboard.

@atgr "...agnostic."

This gets to the core of the distinction between agnostic and atheist. Agnostics are either apathetic or confused. Atheists have made more of a choice to reject the evidence presented.

Sorry LE, but you have me so dialed in that I must sway away from the keyboard for about 2 minutes so I can relieve my "shackleford".

What's up with the post approval? Has there been major trolling? War between BL and his admirers?

Sorry about the moderation is the new norm now. I've been driving for the last 2 hours so I could do was publish But I wanna jump in on the conversation especially the hypothetical question posed. The same situation happened to abraham. And there a clear clues as to why would never happen again. Anyway now that I'm at my destination I will be tied up for the rest of the night I will do my best to publish comments.

TS~ Check out the 8-BALLS on my blog, when you get a chance. I will be supplying the back story as soon as I get my thoughts. Have a "wonderful day"!

I love BL, as I would a younger brother.

LE...I my answer is "B". i would never atone for my sin by taking the life of my child. Jesus died on the cross for forgiveness of my sins. No one can ever pay for my sins again but me. But to answer your question...i would com mit my soul to the eternal fires of hell before I'd hurt my kids.

hey....it's after 6 and we're all still here. was there ever any doubt?

since i am one of a few that can post a comment here without moderation i will tell you what is on my mind. to le, have you ever even gone to my blog and hit play on a video, to try and figure out what message i have been trying to tell you and others about life? it's a simple message. it does not take a rocket scientist to figure it out. or a college graduate (add mb. or p.hd, if you wish). since no one goes to my blog, i have to reach people through this venue. i am going to post one more feeling on this blog in hopes that my message gets through. @ that point, two sentz can revoke my license.

@7:25 "LE...I my answer is "B"."

Good answer.

I was thinking that I should have had more options.

Maybe

d. Tell God that his request is inconsistent with his teachings. Teachings take precedence, unless compelling reason given.

@atgr "have you ever even gone to my blog and hit play on a video"

No I have not.

I have always seen your blog as being more about music, and, frankly, our musical tastes are rather different.

I'll make an effort...

@7:27 "hey....it's after 6 and we're all still here. was there ever any doubt?"

Maybe we should call it "Atheist Creation Day". I wonder how many new atheists there are.. especially in the young?

It seems that there was a real cost for this folly.

D is why your hypothetical wouldn't ever happen.
