The support from County Executive Pollitt, City Councilwoman Debbie Campbell, and many other elected and appointed county and city officials, and all the expertise they have brought to this endeavor, has been greatly appreciated. Sure, but all of this pales in comparison to Gary Comegys' many, many contributions to our community. Let's see . . he, um, well, ah, surely there must be something. Hold on. The Mall thing? Wait, no that didn't turn out too well. Environmentalism? Uh, nope, the whole open sewage into the river thing kinda undermines that legacy. Just a second, there must be something. Oh, I got it! He wants to destroy city records--that seems to be a really good idea! Wouldn't want any pesky records showing how you voted or anything like that. Hey Gary--we've seen your voting record, buddy, and it isn't good. You are your friends can fill the Grapevine with all the nonsense you want, you cannot hide from your record of neglect.

Name an accomplishment
# The Wicomico County Neighborhood Congress was formed nearly two years ago to report and solve community problems. Salisbury City Councilwoman Debbie Campbell was delegated the formation of this group, with Jim Ireton chairing the steering committee. Name one problem either of them -- or this group -- has solved for the citizens of any neighborhood. Will we hear records are meant to be broken? I doubt it. Sorry pals, not my vote.
Rocky Burnett and Debbie Campbell are both to be credited with the formation of the group. All of the members who came forward to create the framework of the organization and select Jim Ireton as Chair are to be credited for their hard work. If I recall correctly, they have had several very successful forums in response to the interests of the membership of the Congress. There was an excellent meeting that presented the pros and cons of APFOs, another in Delmar addressing approaches to reducing crime, another that was related to water quality (I learned about making a rain barrel at that one)). The value of the bringing the Congress together to create the governance structure and relationships that have been created among residents from very diverse rural and non-rural areas of the county is also to be applauded. Perhaps the writer is one of the naysayers who sits on the sidelines and then criticises everyone who is showing up and trying.
